Colorful Easter Eggs DIY

With Easter only a month away, we have the perfect spring project for you to vamp up your festive decor. Dying wooden Easter eggs is an easy and fun way to make your colored eggs last longer than a few days.

 

You can find wooden eggs at any craft or hobby store, including Micheal's. This project only takes an hour to complete.

 

Supplies:

• Rit All-Purpose Liquid Dye: Pedal Pink, Tan, Aquamarine, Lemon Yellow, and any of your favorites
• Wooden Easter Eggs
• Glass Bowls
• Gloves
• Paper Towels
• Plastic Table Cover
• Measuring Cup
• Measuring Spoon

 

Instructions: 

1. Cover table with plastic and gather your supplies.

2. Fill a plastic container with the hottest tap water and add in dye. Stir well. For this project, we used three color formulas:

   Ballet Slipper: to create the Ballet Slipper color, mix 3/4 teaspoon of Petal Pink and 4 teaspoons of Tan with 1 gallon of water.

   Orchid Bouquet: to create the Orchid Bouquet color, mix 1/2 tablespoon of Purple and 1/2 tablespoon of Petal Pink with 1 gallon of water.

   Beach Glass: to create the beach glass color, mix 1/4 cup of Aquamarine and 1/2 tablespoon of Lemon Yellow with 1 gallon of water.

3. Put on gloves and place wood eggs in the dye bath to soak until desired color is achieved. The longer the wood eggs stay in the dye bath, the darker the color will be. Lightly stir them to give your eggs an ‘organic’ look. We kept the eggs in the dyebath for 1 minute.

4. Let eggs dry fully on a stack of paper towels.
