Staying Inspired During Social Distancing

It's best to stay occupied during times like these, to keep the anxiety low and positivity high. Some people are socially distancing themselves, or conducting a two week quarantine. It's easy to run out of things to do with all your free time. So, we decided to come up with a list of ideas to keep you inspired and busy:

  • Read: Pick up that book you've been meaning to read since last year. Now is your chance to finally sit back and enjoy it. Don't have one in line? Find your next favourite here.
  • Home Workouts: Upset about the gyms closing down? No need, there are plenty of online workouts you can do from home.
  • Try Out a New Recipe: Theres no better time to attempt a new cooking or baking recipe. Go for one that you usually wouldn't have time for.
  • Keep in Touch: Call, text or facetime family and friends. Just because you're physically isolating doesn't mean you have to mentally isolate as well.
  • Go for a Walk: If you're getting antsy from being cooped up at home, it's okay to get outside for some fresh air. Opt for non-crowded, open spaces like parks, the beaches, or lakeshore.
  •  Pick Up an Abandoned Hobby: Whether it's knitting, painting, drawing or dyeing, we all have a hobby or two that's been abandoned for a lack of time to commit to it. And odds are, you already have all the supplies!
  • Learn Something New: It's always refreshing to try something new; whether it be learning a new language or teaching yourself how to hand embroider. Either way, you'll walk out of this social distancing with a new skill under your belt.
  • Start a DIY Project: It's common that we end up paying for things we can often make/do ourselves. Now you have to time to try! Here's one to make your own face mask.
  • Listen to a Podcast: There are an abundance of different podcasts out there, you're bound to find one that you like. The best part is that many of the platforms you can listen on are free!
  • Start a New Series: How about watching that show everyone's been talking to you about? You finally have the extra time for it. Just try not to end up spending the whole two weeks binge watching. Find a list of the top streaming shows here.

We hope these ideas help you get through this challenging time. Please take care of yourself and others amidst this crisis.
